so i'm in the process of interviews for a new job. there's 1 that sounds ok but i know the commute & it was part of the reason i left my last job. i'd actually have to pass my old work to get to this place...not sure if that's something i want to do. they also have another office in my hometown that i'd be at 1 day a week...if it was the other way around that'd be different. there's another that i applied to 12 days ago & haven't heard back from yet (yes, i am hopeful). it pays considerably more & is closer to home. with my dad getting older, i'm very concerned about his health (he lives downstairs from me, can barely see out of 1 eye & had a leg amputated a few years ago...oh yeah & he hit my car a month or so ago when he was going to park in the driveway...his truck was altered so he can legally drive...) so the distance & commuting time does play a huge part in my decision. i need to be able to get here if there's an emergency Sounds like you need a work at home type of job so you can be near your father. If you plan on doing this type of work I urge you to investigate it thoroughly before you get into it. Many are scams. For example, if they require money up front it is a scam. Check out yahoo hot-jobs and monster.com and USAjobs.com. The last one is for federal employment and you can put in your area code and search for jobs within 100 miles to like 5 or 10 miles from your area code. Start there and see if you can find anything that looks good. Good Luck. Obviously location is very important to you, so unless you can get your dad to move, you shouldn't waste time on jobs that are uncomfortably far away. Of course if things get desperate you might have no choice, but not until then.
