Have you ever had any luck with finding a job on HotJobs, Careerbuilder, or Monster? |
I can't find anything at all. Sure.. CB and Monster are the leaders in the market, however keep in mind that they are saturated and not as effective as they were 5 years ago. The type of position you seek will best determine the site for the greatest opportunities. For example, if you're an engineer, try ieee.org, an experienced professional, theladders.com, experience in the food and beverage industry, careersinfood.com, etc. Consider doing a search for your area of interest (jobs in marketing) and take it from there. yes, I found a fantastic job on HotJobs 3 months ago its been great! I'm sure you will find one if you look harder ;) Nope - I think they are over-rated. Monster is good for things like interview advice but not for jobs. I tend to use job websites like gaapweb, totaljobs.com and michaelpage.com. Most employers go to recruitment consultants directly and monster is only where employers put jobs on their website and not many do. I have also had positive responses from using hotjobs but one thing you must do is send your resume to any and every position you seem interested in. I have a friend who has found many good listings on Careerbuilder. She is a nurse though and she only looks on there for local jobs. Where I live there is a nursing shortage, so of course she is going to find many jobs listed for her field. I have not tried looking on there. Yes, I had my previous job via monster. I have also recently posted my resume and got lots of response from companies and the monster job agent. I also agree that monster is a great place to get advise regarding resumes, interviews, what to wear, what not to wear..including sample QA on an interview. You should check it out. Good luck. I got my current job on Monster 5 years ago I believe they found me but I could have applied. |
