used a cash register enny advice is it hard !!!!!!!!!!!
do u need to be really good with math and stuff !

thanx !!!!!!!!

calm down,,,,they'll teach you
It isn't hard at all. Most registers prompt you for every transaction you need to make.
These days cash registers do it all for you. You punch in the amount the item costs, then press subtotal, then enter in the amount the customer gives you and press Total and the cash register has worked out how much change the customer should receive. Easy.
Hi there Lily, A cash register is quite simple to use. It is only new while it is new if you see what I mean. It should not take you long to learn how to use it....dont worry! You do not need to be good with math, as long as you can work out how much change to give when someone pays for something. Having said that, most cash registers these days will do that for you....I wish you all the best! :o)
nope its easy, don't worry- they don't expect you to know straight up. You'll learn by the first day or so. its a machine that works it all out for you.
Don't be afraid to ask questions!!
You'll be fine. Just be careful. Count your money twice if you have to. Take a little mini calc with you just in case a customer decides to change what bill they are using.. like if it's 5.10 for the sale, they give you a 20 and then decide they want to give you 10 dollars and a quarter... you'll get better at it and be able to think fast and make change but sometimes it helps to just have it in case of a brain freeze.
Also, always leave the money they give you OUT of the register until you finsh giving the change and bag the item.. sometimes a customer might CLAIM they gave you a 20 and they gave you a 5. A lot of fishy people sometimes.. sometimes people genuinely get confused but some people do it on purpose essp if they see that you are new. Don't be afraid. It's a little pressure at first. You will get used to it. Every register is a little different. GO SLOW and think before you start pressing buttons. GOOD LUCK hope this helps.
It's super simple nowadays, with the scanners. Most difficult thing is meorizing codes for produce or items that have to be weighed. Overall, you'll get the hang of it quickly.
