Is it possible to become successful without resorting to brown-nosing or phony niceness? |
Unfortunately, it seems that you have to be a phony and a brown-noser in order to advance in the working world. Brown nosing will lose to job performance in the long run. You need to be clear on what you mean by phony niceness. If it is clearly insincere, it does more harm than good, however, it does take effort to be courteous鈥攐ne can't just "be natural" without respect for co-workers. Most successful CEO's are genuinely nice concerned people whether that is natural selection or the result of years of practice..Definitely not No, I still support that you can get promoted based upon merit of work. Not necessarily always, but it is possible still. I think it depends on where you work/what you do/who you work for, but you can do it. Just keep doing the best that you can, and eventually, the brown-nosers will get found out. I mean, why keep someone in the job that can't do it? Eventually, they'll see that you can do it, and that you should have been doing it all along. Good luck! just do your own thing. dont mind them.. people who suceed in the expense of others are just gonna be empty successful people. karma's gonna get them one way or the other. strive hard and you'll get your share of the glory. No, actually, it isn't. You don't have to kiss a$s as much or in the same way if you own your own business, but you still do have to "go along to get along." You're better off if you adjust your definition of "success" and decide it's more important to be true to yourself than to sell out for climbing up another rung on the corporate ladder. I came to this concusion a long time ago, and no, I don't have three vacation homes or four SUVs, but I sure do like what I see in the mirror every day. These are some of the reasons I left Corporate America. It is not that way in Mary Kay you promote yourself anytime work your own hours and you are your own boss plus you make great money. |
