Interview Question: Why Would You Not Hire Yourself?

I had a job interview a couple of weeks ago and that question really stumped me. Why would you not hire yourself? How are you supposed to respond to that?

Yeah....twisted strenghts vs. weaknesses question. And they think they have made it more difficult :D
Ok, first of all, if you are being asked a question which implies you have to give a certain answer (In this case "because I'm bad at...." or "Because I am too") it doesn't mean that you gotta give that expected answer. On the contrary. Any job seeker's priority during an interview is to sell himself as the best product on the market. This means that you have to twist the answer yourself, in such a way in which you will turn your biggest weakness into a strength. And this is how it is done:

I'd say, "Because I'd be afraid I'd be after my job."
You should have said, " because I will be taking over YOUR job soon" meaning the interviewer. That is a really strange question...
You are supposed to say
' I wouldn't hire myself because I get too involved in my work and find it very hard to forget about and not do extra work when I get home and I tend to stay far too long in the workplace in the evening, therefore using up valuable resources like electricity!' lol - that should stump them.
I personally would have found that sort of question really hard if I'd not prepared for it beforehand...

Off the top of my head, for me personally, I'd say, "According to your resume, you've moved around a bit with different jobs, and we're not 100% comfortable with someone that is too mobile; we want someone that has been in the same place for a long time, etc"

Then I would go on to say that even though I have moved around a lot, it's been to further my career, and that I have been based in places for more than 2 years at a time, so that I have stayed with a company long enough.

I'd pick the quality that I am most uncomfortable about in my own resume or career, then I would explain it away with my own reasoning.

I don't even know however, if that would be the right course of action!
(1)I am rather over-qualified, aren't I ? or (2) Absolutely no reason why I would not hire myself !
