I really want this job... do i have a chance?? |
Ok, I had an interview and it went really well. I got a tour of the place, met the Director of Operations and was there for 2 hours. I got a phone call the very next morning from the HR manager, which was the person I spent most of interview. He said that I did an "outstanding job". This was pretty much what he said to me -> "I want you to know that you are a very stong candidate for this position. Both the Director of Operations and I thought you were outstanding and would be a great fit for our organization. There is one other candidate with a slight edge over you, ONLY because of her background. You do not lack anything that we are looking for. I want you to really be proud of yourself for the interview and keep in mind that you are definately a strong candidate with this position. If for some reason this position doesnt work out for you, you are someone that we want to keep a close eye on for the future. We'll see where this goes" If I were you, I will definitely keep in touch with these people so that they will know that you are really serious and interested to get the job. Right now they are more interested in your attitude/behavior on how you deal with people. That tells a lot about someone. It's unprofessional to send them an email, make a phone call or visi them personally to know the status of your application. Don't send an email. Make a phone call, or go there in person. Sure send him an email let him know you are intrested. keep bugging them they always love a person whos outgoing and knows what they want. you'll have the upperhand if the person that came in above you didnt show real intrest by following up as you did. You've already sent the thank you note, that should be enough for now. But if they haven't contacted you in the timeframe that they specified, then yes it would be ok to call them - personally I would avoid the email but that's up to you. call him in person,,sounds like they have already made a decision.saying if for some reason this position doesn't work out...and he then went on vacation..chances are he hired someone before he went...call him and talk to him in person, and ask him for the future i'd like to know what I need to do to improve my chances,I have an interview with so-and so...this afternoon and would like some feedback going into that...maybe he'll change his mind...good luck!
