Is it a good idea to return to a previous job? Possible growth & more money but not guaranteed?

At my last job they are having trouble w/hiring new people and extended the job to me...just not sure if it's a good move...need help!

how did you leave the old job and why... it seems that it might be an opportunity, but sit down with the manager and discuss what he/she foresees as the outcome and short term goals that you can help with.
It can't hurt, but if they let you go previously, keep your guard up. Do your best job, though.

If you left, why did you leave? Consider that before you go back.
