Do Employers Lie At Interviews?

I've had 6 jobs, 5 of the employers lied to me at the interview, I just wondered if it was common practice?

Here's a prime example, you ask "What are the holidays like" this employer said a week at easter, 2 wks at the summer etc etc.. So it came Easter Monday morning, I was packing the car up taking the kids away for the day, phone rings its my boss, "Why are you not at work?" I said I am off, he said no your not, who told you that? I said you did, he said no I didn't. The prat made me go in that week myself, everyone else was off :

The most common one is, "Your on 6 months trial, after that we will see about a payrise" You go to him 6 months later he says "No we can't give you a payrise, If I give you I have to give every body" I was told this by 5 out of 6 employers,

Is it normal to get spun this $hit to get you in the door?

That's the normal practice of the capitalist pigs. They want you to sweat and bleed for every penny you earn. Try to save and put your own business in the future. Don't let them exploit you forever.
get a job at the IHOP
or get a job
yes , everyone lies at some point in their lives whether its to get a better job , or make you think they are better than they are. its just a fact of life
Yeah, I was lied to by my current employer.
Hence the reason I am now seeking new employment.
Lying b@$t@rd$!!
I think the moral to this story is.... get it written into your contract!! If they tell you that you get holidays at certain times then it has to be written in your contract... Insist on this!! If they are telling the truth then this shouldn't be a problem!

It happens all the time, unfortunately, but very difficult to prove...
They give you the idealized version. This is the company that's in the hand book, that works hard for its employees and asks only loyalty in return. I had a friend who worked for a small company and was due 2 weeks vacation. However, he was last in line for vacation. But by the time it got to be his turn to go, it was the busy season and they wouldn't give him the time off.
You should always ensure that what they tell you shows up in a contract BEFORE you sign your half- that way they cannot wriggle out of it. I had that problem when they changed the hours on the contract and i signed it and didn't notice and was basically told it was my fault for not reading the contract.
