What would be etiquette for following up on a resume sent email and do you resend if job is reposted? |
OK, it has been two weeks. I followed up with a quick note asking if they received all they needed a week later & did not hear back yet. It is an account manager position, needing high level of customer service, in support of web & database services for the auto industry. I worked as IT Manager in an auto group which used it and helped them do countless hours of end user troubleshooting when they were developing & changing their product. I don't know people to call & they don't want calls any way.They just reposted the job. How should I follow up? Do I resend the whole package (they wanted a short cover letter too)? Do you think they just want more candidates, or does it bode worse than that? I really like the company & want to work for them. How should I approach it? I had the same problem too; i applied for the position two weeks later they reposted the position with slithly different job title, everything else was same. I called them to ask about it, and they said it is the same job and asked me to send in the resume again, which i did. I did get a confirmation that they did get my resume. If i were you i would send the materials in again, but do not change anything on the cover letter or on the resume, just change the date. I would suggest you re-send it. If you didn't hear back from the original post, perhaps it got lost or was overlooked. These things do happen. I would make mention of that in your next cover letter though, stating that you're still interested in the position, are impressed with the organization and really want to be part of it. I don't think there's any good way to tell what's actually going on with their hiring process. They could be looking for more people, they could have screwed something up the first time around. If you meet all the requirements they've asked for in a job candidate I would try resending your information. If they accept submissions by fax or mail I would try that for the second time around. I don't see how it could hurt. |
