HELP ..Employers or Human resource people out there this question is for you? plz read on? |
my title in this position am at is office coordinator & what i heard thru others was that the girl who held this position before was office manager. why would a company change the title?? is it to pay less for this position?? i mean sometimes with every thing that goes on here i feel very over whelmed. for all the serious answers thank you! If you were hired for the specific purpose of replacing that other woman however you have another title it is probably what is commonly referred to as a "budgetary title" and as you guessed it- that is a way to pay less for the position. Source(s): Human Resource Director It may depend on the experience that they hired you at and how long the other person was in that position. (Depending, in a year or two, you might get promoted to Office Manager - make sense?) The title, in this case, would probably reflect both pay and responsibilities. Often, some companies won't give a Manger title unless you have direct reports. (Like if you oversee the receptionist.) Best of luck Years in HR. Sounds like one of a couple of things happened. Did they take away the "management" part of the position? Do people report to you? Perhaps there was a pay rate change. Companies change titles all the time. Sometimes for the above reason, other times only because certain titles come into being vogue. Like no one is a secretary anymore. They are Administrative Assistants. There are no more clerks is another example. Remember: You feel overwhelmed because of the work load - not the salary. Hope this helps. It sounds like there is more to the story. Possibly the split the duties that the office manager used to have. There for creating 2 roles instead of one. If that is the case then yes your salary would be less than an office manager because the duties are less. If the responsibilty is the same and you feel you are being under compensated then ask for a raise! Best wishes I am a technical recruiter and have over 10 years experience |
