Is minimum wage enough for a teen in highschool? The Federal minimum wage was increased on July 24, 2007 to $5.85. It will increase on July 24, 2008 to $6.55 and finally on July 24, 2009 it will be $7.25. What you earn per hour also depends on where you live and what job you do. Here in BC, Canada (some provinces vary), the minimum for training is $6 and the normal minimum wag is $8. Well, as for if it's "enough"...as long as you're not totally supporting yourself and you're only spending it on stuff that you want, then yes, it's enough.
