Need Career Advice? |
Background: I used to work at a brokerage firm making 38K a year but left after 7 months because of issues with my supervisor. My role there was administrative and operational support. So now I have an interview with the clothing retailer, H&M tomorrow for an admin position in their store location. The pay that they can work around is 35K, which is 3K less than what I used to be getting. Ive been unemployed for 2 months because i've been searching for an admin position but lack the experience. Most admin positions i've applied for need 2+ years but I have only about 1-2 years. I have a college degree and for the past 2 months, none of the positions that i've applied for have contact me. I have a good chance of getting this position at H&M because of my past banking experience. Should I give it a shot and negotiate salary? Also, I feel as if accepting this job would be a downgrade because it's at the mall and back to a retail setting. TIA I am in a similar position.Just go for a job that you have a passion for,otherwise...sooner or later if you consider a job just because it is there,it might turn into a negative. If you would enjoy working at H&M and $35,000 is your starting salary, then you have a great potential for growth.A lot of places have a probation period and then a raise could be negotiated. I myself have been looking for a financial job.I have a B.A.,not too much experience. It's been a month and a half....not too much luck....but I am not giving up.I am searching for something that I would be happy doing. Wish you best of luck! |
