I want to move to a new state, should I secure a job first?

How do I go about doing it if im in another state?

Unless you have enough money to live on for six months or longer, then yes. You can go online and search for businesses in the new state and start sending resumes out. I believe if you go to "name of state".gov/sos (secretary of state), you can find a list of companies. Good luck!
Phone, internet, trips.
Yes, unless you have at least 25 thousand saved.
the same way you would if you were in that state, just add a sentence or two in your cover letter explaining that you are relocating to the new state. You should also be prepared to travel to the new state for interviews if necessary, and indicate that in your cover letter as well. Unless you can afford not to start working right after you move, you should of course secure a job first.
Are you a risk taker? How much savings do you have? If you move with no job, I think you should have money to live on for three months.

I know people who have just "done it" and are very successful...Good Luck!
TAKE A WEEKEND OR WEEKS TRIP TO THE CITY U ARE THINKING ABOUT MOVING TO AND TRY TO GET A FEW INTERVIEWS SCHEDULED B4 U GO. A FRIEND OF MINE DID THAT AND NOW IS LIVING IN NYC VERY HAPPILY. GOODLUCK!
I've moved without a job before. You need a bit of money in the bank.

Companies would rather hire someone local so make sure your cell phone number is changed to the new site. They want a local address so get one (if it's a motel, just use the street address with your room number).

Before you go, pay your car and car insurance up.

Before you go, make sure you can get a job in your industry in the new area. Find the names and addresses of the firms in the new area and take that with you. Do you plan to apply online? Then make sure you locate a WiFi hotspot where you can sit. Some motels phones don't work with computers. Some motels have computers for their guests but those are more expensive.

You could apply from home if the industry you are in is one where people move a lot. Just note that you are going to be relocating to the new area on your resume. Be prepared to go there for a few interviews. If your industry is more in sale or services, then moving there will be the only way to get the job. People want someone who can start NOW!
