Job application asks for three "character references"?? |
I'm filling out a job application and it asks for three character references....so who can be a character reference? Friends? Co-workers? Old bosses? You listed a few, also consider a priest/Rabbi/pastor, school teachers/principle/coach, or neighbor. Just check with them first to made sure it is ok to list them and their phone number and address. I wish you the best. Co-workers would be okay Yes to all of the above. I would pick those who are going to speak well of your work habits and you may want to give them a heads up that you are using them this way. Most people are happy to help but, if you catch them at a bad time who knows what they will say if you don't ask them nicely first. The rule of thumb is to have two business references and one friend who has known you for more than seven years. You'd list them in brief - for instance.... John Doe Worked with Joe Doe at X Corp in a peer position for X years. Joe Schmo Friend of 12 years. |
