Are they pulling my leg?? |
I had an interview for a mortgage position a week and a half ago. HR appeared pleased with me, and he said he'd be in touch to set up an interview w the hiring manager. The hiring manager was on vacation. Last Thursday I called HR and they called me back and said the hiring manager still wasnt back yet, but he would let him know about my ability and my persistance. Its Tuesday, and I still havent heard about the second interview. Do they really want me to come back in, or are they just being polite? I understand if the manager doesnt have time to interview me the day he gets back from vacation, but if they want me for the job, wouldnt they make more of an effort to at least call and tell me when the second interview is going to be? Thanks so much! When you're a manager, particularly one who just returned from vacation, you have a lot of priorities and unfortunately contacting hirees isn't high on the list. I appreciate this job likely means a lot to you but it's probably not urgent to them. I believe they do mean that and they are not just being polite. This happens to many people who apply for jobs. They end up waiting weeks and worry that they didn't get it even though the interview went very well. Have faith and be persistent but not pesky in reminding them of you. Just keep in mind the position is not as pressing for them as it is important to you. I dont know because Im going through the same thing. These employers dont care because the ball is in there court...so some maybe rude and inconsiderate. Remember HR will tell you almost anything to keep you happy regarding the position you seek. companies are not polite unless they need to be. If they're not interested they would probably tell you. Just sit tight, the manager just got back from vacation and has alot of catching up to do. Give it another week or two and then start to be a bulldog. |
