I am working on an article and would like to know your best and worst female boss stories? |
I am working on an article and would like to know your best and worst female boss stories. You can either put them here or send me an email at kregz@sbcglobal.net By submitting your favorite story you are granting me permission to use it in my article. Best female supervisor has been where I am now. Her name is Denise, and she has been the most supportive supervisor I have known to date. She has made it abundantly clear that she has my back. She will go out of her way for her employees, and vice versa. We go out of our way to provide the best quality of service to our customers both internal and external. The worst female boss I ever had... Well... hmmm There are two and they are on par with each other. First one was many moons ago... 1992... There was this manufacturer of these cute little child-like "Fannykins". I was working in the office and I did everything. Keep in mind, this is a small company, no such thing as a personal computer and where you used carbon paper to type up letters and such. One day, I had a typo where I just inverted (dislexia) the two letters... she completely flipped out on me. Screaming at the top of her lungs. I walked out. The next one happened along in 1997... I was working for a freight-forwarding company (a pretty large one) and I started out as the Receptionist. (sarcastically) My mistake... getting pregnant and going onto maternity leave. When I came back, holy crap was she a royal "B". (I'm a very sensitive person by nature and can be easily intimidated) She would call me into her office over the stupidest things... and just rip me apart over them. I think she did it just so she could reduce me to tears. (this too immediately after having a baby... one is tired all the time and hormone levels are still trying to normalize again, and being sensitive by nature... not a good combination to show a great deal of strength and resolve) So I started looking for a new job. I couldn't take anymore of the abuse. Finally, I got the strength to fight back and basically told her she needs to back off. I I am a female but after my very bad experience with my female bosses i would never work for a female boss!! i am so sorry to say a woman can be so hard on another woman ,,, i am a very peaceful person and i am a team player ..i am kind of people who initiate things and offer a hand for their colleagues ,,,..but still i am very quite person and i have my style and my way of eating , drinking ,,,talking ,,,,,all my co-workers loved me and when they want to talk about an organized person they give me as an example ..Once I got "promoted " my boss was a female ..she is details oriented ..i am a structure oriented ,,,i care for goals and she care for details ...i don鈥檛 mind .....because I am good in details but i enjoy making plans and organize things ...in the period she was getting married "to a ten year younger guy " she was so happy having me ...since i did all the work all alone ,,,and i enjoyed that actually ..she used to take sick leaves while she is not sick ..she used to say she is going to a workshop while she is not ...and also she was doing here master ..she spent all working hour working on her seminar and preparing for her wedding i didn鈥檛 mind ,,,i showed up on time and I after working hour ,,,,i was nice to my colleagues i even register them in a gym and gave them aerobic class ,,after she got married and graduated it was evaluation time ,,,definitely i was doing WHAT I CAN DO , but still her duties are not fully covered ,,so the board of members asked her why she told them "me " is the reason ,,,I saw her letter by accident ..when i saw it i was crazy ,,i called the head of the board and told him all I know ..How she didn鈥檛 show up .. i was doing my job and her job ..how she lied in her reports ,,,and i quitted ,,,after i quitted they gave her a probation notice and she is no longer a boss ,,,but that job affected me badly ,,and it shacked me from inside ,,when i go to interview i wish they say we dont want you "surprisingly , i have never been denied " and even after that job i got another job but i didnt stay even a month ,, i was so devastated .,,,that woman is satin himself ,,i knew later that she was jealous from me .. at least this what i have been told ,,,,,because she is old and married to younger man . ..she hates or younger girls especially more beautiful ones! And she wanted to show how good boss she is by explaining how bad employee is me ,,,, ps. her husband was working with us in the same field See Michael Critchton's book, "Disclosure", The movie of the same name made quite a stir back in 1994 and made everyone talk around the water cooler about sexual harrassment of a male subordinate by a female boss. |
