Is it reasonable that immigrants will be overlooked for jobs when they CHOOSE not to look and speak like the.. |
...indiginous population? is it only right that when you join a new culture with the intention of becoming a part of it, that you FULLY integrate the way you talk and the way you look and...when you're in rome, do as the romans do? To a degree yes you are right...anyone who wants to live and work in this country should of course learn the language and respect the customs of the place they are in....but....why should they give up their own identity? We are after all individuals and that's a good thing...why should we be able to dictate what anyone else looks like or talks or acts like when in he company of friends and family? Depends on who the immigrants are. Ahem. Not in this Country ,its do as you like and fxck the rest Um, no, no I don't agree with that at all. The UK has always been a melting pot of different cultures and that's the way it should/will stay. Many studies have proved that a diverse workforce is more productive, creative and has more team cohesion. So I think I'll stick to hiring all kinds of people, it being better for the business. I think that anyone moving to another country should abide by their laws and learn to speak the language. Why should you be given an advantage over the indiginous population unless there is no one to do the job? Doesn't matter in Scotland - most companies are paying off the British workers to replace them with Polish staff because they will work for lower wages. I would not hire someone who couldnt speak english, but it wouldnt matter to me if they were of a different culture. If I moved to spain, I wouldnt expect anyone to hire me if I couldnt speak spanish. |
