Do I still have the job?

I interviewed for a job as a leasing agent this past Thursday (5 days ago). I did really well in my interview and the lady who was interviewing me seemed really impressed. She even made a copy of my ID and social security card. She didn't come right out and say "You're hired" but it sounded really promising. She said she'd have to talk to her superviser who does the hiring and that she'd talk to her the next morning and that I should be hearing from her on Monday or Tuesday. I got a little excited so I called the lady who interviewed me and her superviser yesterday and couldn't get through to either one of them. When I called the lady who interviewed me, I was on hold for 10 minutes and finally hung up. I called back and the lady who picked up said she'd call me back and she never did yesterday and hasn't yet today. I also called her superviser yesterday and left a message and I still haven't heard back from her.

Does it sound like I still have a good chance a the job or not?

First of all, they shouldn't have made a copy of your driver's license or social security card if they hadn't already made an offer. That's something to be done within the first few days of employment and it seems a bit fishy they would do it during the interview. Moving beyond that, I would say you still have a chance as things always move more slowly than they say they will. Their intentions may be good to get back to you right away, but they have other things on their plate and often get distracted. I would say you've hurt your chances a bit in calling the lady's supervisor when it sounds as if you didn't even speak to the supervisor during the interview? This might seem to the manager that you are already trying to go over her head. From now on, if you want to follow up, call once and leave a message and wait for them to call you back. Do not consider calling back again unless more than a few days pass by. And also, if they say they will get back to you Monday or Tuesday, wait until late Tuesday or Wednesday to follow up with them. Sounds like they're WAY confused and/or leading you around. I would call back and say politely, "I understand if you have found an applicant that you believe is a better fit for the position; however, I need to know if I should continue my job search."

In the meantime, continue your job search & think seriously if you even WANT to work for someone who would treat you like this before you're even hired.
go back there and ask in person. If they say the position has been filled, ask for the copies back. They're yours after all. That's usually only something they do when they're getting your tax info ready and to verify you're legal to work.
No I'm very sorry but I don't think that you have got the job, if they had been untested with you, they would have let you know within the two day, it's a pity that they are not honest enough to tell you so.
I would say no. The way companies hire people nowadays, they do not call back if they are not interested. The lady probably took your info to her Boss, who decided to hire someone else. They are either too busy or just don't care enough to call and let you know what is going on. Good luck in your job search.
