I'm 15 and I'm 16 in a week. Should I apply for a job now or wait the week? |
I really want a job already I'd like to take a moment and applaud you. It is great to see a youth in today's world who is willing to work and wants to make something or themselves ... /clap I would wait a week. You need to put your birthday on application. Someone might look at your birthday and disreguard you immediatly because you are not of age yet. I know it is only a week, but people look for excuses to say no some times. That being said, it is only a week. Go out now and get your applicaitons and have them filled out so on your birthday (hell, the day after your birthday, enjoy yourself) go deliver them. Hand them personally to the hiring manager and maybe strike up an converstion about how you are only just 16. I think that would look good and would show real inititive. Wait until you are 16. A lot more companies hire people who are 16 than 15. get a job even if small part time jobs they look god when you 18 and looking for a better job becuase you have experience and good refs you will get hired ahead of others i made the mistake of waiting to 18 to work and it hurt me i had friends start working at 14 some off the books at 12 giving out flyers etc. start at a fast food place many people make fun of it but you learn alot and they base positions not on age but hard work why you think they so many managers in fastfoods and even more young owners of fast foods than before they was laughing at them then but they the ones now with the hot rides house and vacations yearly at least hope this helps, good luck Apply now by the time they go through your application, interview, etc. you will be 16. BTW Happy Birthday! Go ahead and start applying. It's doubtful that you'll get the first job you apply for unless you're lucky. You typically have to apply at least 10 places before you get a job. I was lucky and only had to apply for 5. But yes, go ahead and start. |
