Would a new job have you do this?

would they have you buy a training book for 40 and up? i would think they would provide the matrials you need to do the job for free...anyone have a similar experiance

my friend said he got a job but i dont belive him (he lies to make himself seem cooler) anywaz its for installing air condtioning and he said he has to buy the book required to study for the test he will have to take, i would think the book would be free but he says he has to buy it.

I would think that he 'doesnt HAVE to' buy the book, but maybe the company have recommended it and advised that it will help him pass the test.

I'm at uni which was paid for by my company who gave me a 拢40 book allowance a year to help with my course - however, my books cost between 拢20 - 拢40 each so it only really covers one book a year and the rest I have to pay for myself which is about an extra 拢60 a year on books paid for by me - however, a lot of the people who are doing my degree their companies don't give them any money towards their books, some don't even pay for their course BUT they do allow them to have a day off (some get paid for the day off and some don't..................... I do - lucky me!!!) but basically, if I want to do well on in my degree then its down to me to make sure I have the books to do it.

It really just depends on the company and its up to their discretion what they do and don't provide.
Well if they are going to pay for the cost of the test I think it's only fair that you provide your own study materials.
possibly have to buy the book yes. i had to buy and take classes for my job in real estate
the book may not be for the job but for the license to get the job. my friend went to work for an electric company and had to take a test in order to get certified so he could work there. jobs usually don't pay for the license material so your friend could be telling the truth!
It may be that he has to pay for the book initially, then after taking the test he will be reimbused - If he passes. Some companies do that.
I'm not sure, but when you apprentice for trades, you have to buy your own materials and pay your course fees unless the company decides to do it for you.

The company I work for pays for all learning material, but I have friends who say I'm lucky for this.
He maybe aliar but it could be true.
