Can I avoid the stigma of unemployment?

I'd like to drop out of the work world for a while, but my extended family and neighbors are "work nazi's" and wouldn't accept a man not working. Is there some fake jobs or something that I can do to cover my "slacking".

I had a stroke last year and now I collect disability. Sure the paralysis is a little inconvenient, but it's a low pressure deal and no stigma.
If you're comfortable with not working, why do you give a rats azz about your extended family and neighbors? If they have a problem with it, tough titties.
Tell them you are writing a novel
Do you live your life according to what YOU want, or according to what other people want? If you have the means and don't want to work, then don't. Just be honest about it....it's a lot better to be thought a slacker than to be thought a liar.
