Most college graduates in America do not want to start at the bottom, why is this happening?

My coworkers , i can't believe them. At work, they don't do anything. Just read books, watch TV( there is one but we're not supposed to watch it), and talk. Boss is a boss that is never there supervising. When she is, then they do stuff. but if she's not there , they don't. They just spend time being dumbasses, listening to hip hop( on boombox ) and things like that.

Then they at times, have conversatioins where they say they want to get 18 dollar, 20 dollar per hour jobs. And actually that's their aim, they apply to jobs like that. But i mean, they don't even work here at the low level so how can they possibly be responsible at a more demanding position????!! My gosh. the job we do now is Work in the scanning department Preping documents( remove staples, tape, retape notes, organize) and scanning and moving boxes around. etc.

But they don't do nothing and thinkthis job is for uneducated people, that they are better than this. They think they are god's gift or something.

It's easy--students go to college to make money. When they don't make at least $50K that first year, they start to question whether they are in the right job or career.

Ever since high school, those students have been told that a college education will lead them to great potential. Even in some colleges they will be told that once they are out they WILL get at least $50K each year.

Those students need a wake up call. I've seen SO MANY new grads turn down great jobs with great potentials because it wasn't making enough money.

Case in point: A girl I know graduated in December with a degree in early childhood education. She's convinced that she's worth at least $40K. She's also pregnant, due in a few days. Early in January she was offered a job as a preeschool coordinator with a pay check of $25K and benefits. That wasn't good enough, and she chose to be a substitute teacher and work at a car dealership, both of which she ended up quitting.

So now instead of having a stable job that would have hired her despite her pregnancy she doesn't have ANY insurance or ANY income and refuses to go on WIC or unemployment.

I graduated in August of 2006 and potentially will be hired next month. I've also been a stay-at-home mom, so that WAS my job until now. I am looking at a salary around $36,000 gross. My husband, who never graduated from college but has worked for the past 7 years, is in a management position making $36,000 net. Personally, I think it's amazing for him AND for me.
Man, I totally agree. Not to generalize but most Americans want to be on top but not work for it. Then they complain about how people from other countries are taking their jobs. If you dont qualify for the job then its not yours. I'm Asian and get a lot of bullshit. I have been around a couple of people who complained to me about how come most Asian immigrants have so much money. Its because they work damn hard for it and dont mind starting from the bottom.
