What's needed for paycheck electronic transfer to bank?

At my new job, I want to set up automatic transfer of my paycheck to my bank.
I think you need a check, but I don't have any checks left and don't want to order more. Is there another way? My dad has a couple of checks to the same bank, can I use his?

you can go to the bank and ask for a direct deposit form they should have them at your bank... if your employer needs a check then you can get temp cks from the bank they are just a dollar.. unless your dad has the same account number as you I don't suggest using his cks cause then he will get you paycheck...
No you can't use his checks. All your payroll department really needs is the bank routing number and your account number, not a voided check. The routing number is the first 9 digits on the bottom left of a check. Verify with your bank to make sure you have the right number, but that's all you need, along with your account number to get the money direct deposited into your account.
You are confused here, you ask about a pay check, but refer to ordering more checks, which refer to your personal checks for your bank account. For an electronic deposit for your PAYCHECK you need to ask your employer if that can be done, for now you can deposit this check to your account until you find out if it can be electronically deposited, no you cannot use your dads personal check for this. If you can have this done you will need to provide your banks routing number and account number and other information to start the deposits.
Every bank has its own requirements on what they will accept in relationship to electronic payroll check deposits. Usually they require not only the information on the account, but a signed authorization of the process. It helps prevent money laundering.
If your bank account is a checking account and has limited funds in it, you may be charged a monthly service fee. If so be careful that your account funds does not drop below the monthly fee.
Consider contacting you employer's payroll department about this issue. Their policy on the necessary documents for direct deposit will be standard for them.
Your employer's payroll department should have a form that you sign authorizing the direct deposit of your check and stating the minimum necessary information they need. Beware that no all financial institutions accept direct deposits and have specific requirements in software and etc.
If you no longer have any checks--how about a deposit slip, it will provide the routing number of the bank and your account information--but it is still up to the payroll department/bank to accept this.
You maybe able to use your father's information, if you want your paycheck to go into his account. You need to discuss this issue with the payroll department.
if you go to the bank or your employer there are forms you can fill out to do a electronic deposit of your payroll check talk to your employer first(I dont think you need a copy of a check anymore) at least we dont at our bank
