What to do if scammed?

I received a large check from a guy offline. where do I go for being scammed? its in my name to i did not cash it and i dont plan to

Bring it to your bank to find out more information about the check. If any papers came with it, bring those as well. They may be able to do a "background check" on the account the check was written from.
Need more details.

How are you being scammed?

A good start is your local police department.
Police
A lot of this is going on. Take it to the police and let them handle it.
If someone you don't know offers you free money, don't accept it and throw away. If you won a contest you never entered, don't try to collect a new car or a boat or a vacation.

It doesn't take more than a common sense to identify bogus offers. Please don't waste Police department's time. They're needed to go after more hard criminals.
