17 year old who wants to open up savings account without a parent sponser or parent joint account? |
I realize that I can't get a checking account because I am a minor, but what I want to get is one of those Visa / Mastercard debit cards. The ones that can be used as credit or debit cards. If I can't get one like a credit card (or if no one understands what I am saying), then just a debit card under my name with MY own account under MY own name. Thanks Go into a bank and see what you can do. You can get a debit account, you will get a card to use, you will just not get personal checks. Try Washington Mutual. Check into one of those "pre-paid" Visa accounts. You can put say $300 upfront and then use it until your $300 runs out. No parent needed for that and I think you can get them at most convenience stores. Most banks won't allow you to have a checking account under 18 without a parents or guardian signed on the account. That's what I had to do. I checked everywhere and there aren't many that let you have a checking account at all under 18. I found on 1 bank in my city that allowed me, and I live in a pretty big city. Just check with banks in your city, I called around which was easier than going to every bank to ask the same question. I hope that helps! Well, you can get a pre-paid card Visa which is specially for teenagers. Just go to the bank and ask for one. By the way, if you want to make money in your spare time, check this webpage and start your own business on the Internet. All you have to do is sign up at http://www.website.ws/tonacor9 and http://www.my.ws/tonacor9 It's a worldwide business and we supply free training. Everybody can do it, even you my friend!!! I hope to hear from you soon. Good Luck! Most banks will let you get a checking account at 17 on your own, go to different banks & ask around. Savings accounts cannot be linked with a debit card due to certain bank regulations, so you will have to have a checking account to get a debit card. prepaid card scores over credit cards especially if the owner has a not so perfect credit history. The rejection is non existent in case of prepaid credit cards, there are no credit checks, no employment verification, and approval is guaranteed. With a bit of dilligent shopping and comparision of various prepaid credit card offers, it is not difficult to find a prepaid card with no annual fees, no late payment fees, no repayments, and no penalties whatsoever. So, the ownership costs of a prepaid card can be negligible. With prepaid cards it is very easy to promote financial discipline. Since you can only spend what you have, there is no overspending, and hence no debts. Some prepaid cards do report their use to major credit bureaus and hence are a good instrument to rebuild credit history. Prepaid cards have wide acceptablility, and in some cases they are even more readily accepted than credit cards. Apply online at: http://www.credit-card-gallery.com/prepa... |
