Is electric heat/appliances/air more expensive than gas? Thinking of moving to new apartment. Thanks.?

Will probably be a two bedroom.

This is a very tough question now, but was an easy answer a few years ago. Gas used to be cheaper and a more efficient way to heat your house (appliances and a/c usually run on electricity exclusively), but in recent years natural gas prices have risen drastically making a comparison of the two much more competitive.

If the apartment you are considering is in a two or three story complex, always shoot for the second floor unit so you can take advantage of how heat rises (from your neighbor below)! Source(s): I am a Realtor
Depends on where you live and how old the apartment building is. For instance, my house is heated by gas and has a gas stove & hot water heater and is about 150 years old and last winter the average gas bill was about $600. If my house was newer and the walls were insulated it would certainly be about 1/3 of that cost. If the apartement is in a fairly temperate climate then I would expect that it will probably be about the same as what you are paying now for electric. In general however, electric is cheaper than gas and has a fairly constant cost per KW. Whereas natural gas, since it's a fossil fuel, can vary with demand and supply.
Pretty much impossible to answer because there are so many variables as to upstairs / downstairs etc. One thing that is correct though is that gas heat is always quicker to warm and I think does a better job. The cost difference in a two bedroom apartment will probably not be enough to notice a significant difference.
gas sucks where I live....rather have all electric.....SO WEST MO......
