How do you register to About.com as an author and add articles? |
I wanted to add articles to About.com but i can't find any option on how to become an author. In order to add content to About.com, you need to become a guide. It's a paid position, available to online freelancers, but there is an application process and a training period. About says: "All About.com Guides are freelancers who work online and set their own schedules, giving them the flexibility to log on from anywhere in the world whenever they have the time. With no timesheets to fill out and no timecards to punch, working for About.com gives you the flexibility to write when you want, even if you have a full-time day job." The guides are paid to build out their categories with quality, relevant content. I would suggest going slowly and not overwhelming them or even sending content first, but developing a relationship with the guide by letting them know how you can help offer information to help them build the category. Some will receive you well, and others will never reply. Ultimately, you can try to become a guide, but if there is already a guide for the category, it takes a lot to have them give up the position as many of the seasoned guides are paid VERY well. |
