What is the best way to market my prepaid legal business?

I recently became an associate of prepaid legal which I think provides a great service - my website is www.prepaidlegal.com/go/sarahp... but how can I generate more visits to my site and more leads that can be converted into sales? Anyone who has done this could be of great assistance - I am working on my mba and looking to generate some extra cash.
Thanks Sarah

Sarah, FIRST never give your full name on an internet site like this (look at this listing closely and you'll se what I mean unless you're using a pseudonym). Only give info like that if you initiated the visit and you see https:// at the begining of the address. Hopefully you knew that and your actual name isn't revealed here.

I subscribed to PrePaid Legal for quite a while, but found we never used it except for the will - and even that we put off. The problem was, if there was a real legal issue they couldn't really do anything beyond write a letter for us. And even then, we'd end up composing the letter and they might send it on their letterhead. So be prepared for that objection.

But that wasn't your question. Does PPL offer co-op advertising? That's where a franchisor offers to pay all or part of your advertising and you usually use ads they've prepared that have room for your local info. This holds true for print, radio and TV.

I hate to say it, but, unless you've got the money for advertising, your best bet is dialing for dollars. Get out the phone book or compile a list of small-medium businesses in your area from the web and start calling. Start with those closest to you to save on time and gas. Ask friends and family to listen to your presentation (or "pitch"). If you can get through the gatekeeper (usually a receptionist - but don't ever assume 'cause it may be the bosses wife), try to reach the owner. Have the owner's name in advance, don't just ask for the owner, it immediately IDs you a a cold-caller who hasn't done her research.

Open with something like, Hi this is Sarah Yourlastname with Pre-Paid Legal, may I speak with Mr. Johnson, please? Then take it from there. Keep good notes, be prepared, know your product and always "close." That means get something from the call. Either an appt. to talk in person, or another phone call at a better time or just plain old ask for the business.

There's lots of books and web sites on selling. Devour them.

Best of luck.
Advertise to new, small businesses in your area. You can get the listing from your local tax office. They should be able to provide a listing of everyone that has recently signed up for a new business license.
Also how about advertising to people who will be going thru issues, like a divorce or bankruptcy. you should be able to find those names pretty easily also.
There is already a great system in place. Just follow it!
