How can I advertise my medical billing company? |
I have a medical billing and consulting company and I really need more doctors. How can I go about advertising my company to doctors? Cold calling is not a solution to get customers (if you divide the time and cost you spent making all the calls by the numbers of customers that you've got you will know what I mean) since a long time ago. Do you like when you receive cold calls? Who likes it? If you really want to succeed you have to use different tactics and strategies. My point is: try to find and work with potential customers that are willing to BUY from you, or willing to buy the same type of service/product that you provide (they have the mind pre-set and willing to buy something, you just have to show them why to buy from you), instead of trying to SELL your service/product to potential customers that don't need it. I can give you a few points, and we can talk more in private if you want. 1. Do you have a website? It is search engines optimized? Most of the traffic that comes trough a website (between 50% to 70%, sometimes even more) comes from search engines. Why is that important for your business? Because people are searching for certain keywords, which means they are potential customers, with the mind pre-set to buy a product similar with yours (there should be a good reason why they are searching for those keywords). 2. Once your website is well design, the content is reflecting the product or service you provide, and it is well optimized for search engines, you can start marketing your website on-line. How and where? Post your website on medical web directories, local directories, etc., so potential buyers of your service can find you easier. Also, by having your website listed on the directories you will start building trust from potential customers (imagine doing business with somebody that is nowhere to be found on the internet). The descriptions that you post on these web directories linking to your website must contain certain keywords based on the service you provide and the market that you want to target. There is a whole technique behind this, called SEO, that we can talk about in private if you want. 3. After you submitted your website to web directories, you have to write some articles and press releases (PR) and post them on the internet. If you don鈥檛 know how to do it, we can help you with that. There are many websites where you can post your articles or PRs for free. Also, there are other websites that you have to pay to publish your article or PR, but they will usually send your article or PR to other websites. Some of the paid websites will submit your PR even to Yahoo News or Google News. Imagine a press release about your service being displayed on Yahoo or Google what impact will have on your business. Once the article or PR is posted on the internet, you can create a section on your website where you display links to these articles and prs so the visitors can go and read them directly, to the source. How will this benefit you? Imagine a potential buyer that will access your website. Having links to these prs, will show the buyer that you are appreciated, you have authority in your field. Also, these days any serious businessman is using the internet for background check of a potential customer/partner. They will check your company's name on the internet, and your name will appear being related to all these articles and prs all over the internet. The trust of the potential buyer in your expertise will continue to increase. Also, when you send an ad to a doctor's office, or you have a meeting with one of them, print and bring some of these articles with you. There is no resume stronger than a few pages containing news displayed by Yahoo or Google about your service. This will make you look like an expert in your domain. 4. Once you have all of these steps in place, now you can go and reach the doctors. By creating a strong on-line background your word will have power, authority in front of your potential customers. How do you reach the doctors? Obviously not by phone. :) They are very busy and more likely you will talk to a nurse or a receptionist. Also, how many calls can you make in an hour? How much are you willing to pay someone to make all these calls for you? What about the time that you have to spend training that person with your software so s/he鈥檒l be able to answer the doctor鈥檚 questions? How many of the doctors reached by your calls are willing to buy your service and become your customers? See, this is the problem with cold calls: you invest so much time, money and energy, and the return is very low. Using cold-calls you try to sell something to people that in most of the cases don't need your product. Why not focusing then on the prospects that have the predisposition to buy your product? How do you do that? Here is one way: Buy or search yellow pages for a list of doctors from your area (it is better to start with your area first so they can start knowing you. If they will have trust in you, they will market your product to other doctors that might need it 鈥?this will cost you $0. How do you build the trust? Read the previous paragraphs) - and send them a package promoting your service. Insert some prints of your press releases from Google or Yahoo as well. A package from you has a higher chance to get into a doctor's hands than to reach him with a call. If the doctor is interesting in your service, he will call you. If he is calling you, he is willing to buy from you. If he is willing to buy from you, you don't have to sell your product to him. You just have to help him buy it from you. Don't believe it? Imagine you go to store to buy a TV. The first clerk sees that you are disoriented because you don't know where the TV section is, and he is pointing you to the right direction. When you get there, you start scathing you head because you don't know which TV to buy, so another clerk comes to you asking if you need his help. And you start telling him that you would like the TV to be this way, that way, this color, with a flat screen, etc. What the clerk does? He is going to help you choosing the TV you like, or, let me be specific, he will help you buy the TV you like. He doesn't have to sell you anything, because you have been already willing to buy from him. Did you get my point? These are few strategies that you can use to help growing your business. Cold calling is the fastest way to build a client base and also the cheapest. Also, the national do-not-call registry does not apply to business to business marketing. First of all search for your local medical doctor database. you can find it online or you can get it from your country yellow pages book or other resources. try to contact them by phones or contact them by mails. some time what happen is all doctors did not have websites or other online contact details so it will be batter to advertise it off line. than go for scripts and give them their own account from which they can consult and access their area. |
