New website does not show when you enter it into a search engine.What do I need to do?

When you launch a new website you need to submit your URL /website address to search engines and open directories. Once the SE's receive the new URL they will they begin crawling your sites content and listing it on the results page.

IF you want your site to appear in yahoo listing for example submit your URL directly to yahoo through this link- http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html...

If you want your site to appear in google submit your URL directly to google through this link - http://www.google.com/addurl/

If you want your site to appear in Alexa submit your URL through this link - http://www.alexa.com/site/help/webmaster...

Like above said, you submit them and they will probably ignore them. Google has a sandbox. Most new sites go out of business in 6 months. So they wait until you are almost that old (they lay in the sandbox).

What you do is get sites with a high Google PR (page rank) to link to you. Get sites to link to you that are listed with the search engines. Then when they search them, they find you. Putting your site on this YA site will not help. Links on this site are ignored by search engines since they use the code rel="nofollow". Look up SEO. That is what you need.

It has to get crawled by the search engines' spiders first. You may ask the search engines to crawl your site by submitting to them.
