Outside of SEO, what is the best way to get visitors? What you are talking about is SEO. SEO is the optimization of your webpage so it is easy to read for search engines and people alike. Getting links from other sites that are themed similar to yours for traffic is also SEO. SEO is pretty much any way that you get visitors without paying for traffic directly, paying for adverts, or emailing people. I would not suggest using a submit tool to submit to directories, google sees this as spam in most cases. My advice to you is start a blog and make one good post a day themed to what you do on your website. Put a link or two in every couple of days to information deep within your website, and host your blog right on the same domain your website is on. It takes a while to start seeing solid results, but its well worth it. The traffic will be high quality and have high conversion rates and will keep coming even if you don't pay your advertising bill or keep posting every day.
