HTML & Search Engine Ranking? |
Does how clean your html code is have any effect on where you rank on search engines? Yes, if you are referring to the entire sourcecode of a website's page. Don鈥檛 allow extra junk to get in the way of the search engines. Extra junk meaning heavy non-html code, javascript, graphics and Flash. While some search engines are 鈥渓earning鈥?to read some Flash and perhaps javascript, for the most part it is code that cannot be read. Whenever possible, move javascript to an external file. Utilize alt tags for all your clickable images, creating a clear description of the image. The html itself should pass validation (http://validator.w3.org/ to check validation). Source(s): http://www.spiderseeker.com I do know that clean code is more search engine spider freindly and the spiders will make more frequent visits. John McCollim is a webmaster for a free classified ads site http://www.a1ezad.com and a hybrid cars site http://www.activehybrid.com Yes it does; if your HTML isn't clean you will get lots of WBC errors. Also, if it's not clean, your site will become increasingly slow to load- which is not good for users and will become very irritating for you! http://www.utalkmarketing.com |
