On my website can I link to other sites or do I need their permission? Are there any legalities involved? You do not need permission to link to other websites. There are no legalities involved. In fact, the web site owners should be very grateful to you because your link gives them better ranking in the search engines. Google and other search engines determine ranking, in part, by the number of incoming links. If by chance a webnaster is living in the dark ages and dooesn't understand this, just remove their link when they request it and find someone else who knows a good thing when he or she sees it. If your site has valuable content, you might ask other sites to provide a return link. This assumes that your site and their site have a similar focus. If they are totally unrelated, noone will agree to a reciprocal link. Source(s): http://www.junecapbell.name You would not need permission if you are posting resources and not claiming any affiliations with the company. However if you would like to be an affiliate you should contact the website and see if there are Affiliate program information and banners they could supply you with. Most are very willing. If you are wanting to do a link exchange you can point out the positive effects it will have for both of your Google and Yahoo rankings. |
