How do i expand my security business?

i want to expand my business. i made some cold calls, not very successful. i want to target offfice buildings, construction sites, hotels etc. any ideas?

I own a security business in Oregon. Trust me, there's no quick way to build your business! Security implies significant trust. The only way to build your client base is to establish your trustworthy-ness. To do that, you must establish your business network and keep working it. A professional image, a FLAWLESS reputation, and an excellent raport with the local law enforcement agencies is a must!! Become and continue to focus on being a highly respected member of your local business community. Source(s): A long, productive, business career...
the best way is to actually get out there yourself and make appointments, pass out fliers, and email, or if u have a fax machine fax businesses to get more business.
Honestly it's a very saturated market today.

People are either already sold , don't believe it, or rarely never heard of it.

But yes, target new places before they're built, because that's what big companies are doing.

Aside from that, make competitive pricing. Hook friends up, word of mouth, something other than door to door or MLM.
Look in the phone book and do cold calling.. If you do not have an add in the phone book that people can see. Run adds in the news paper... What ever ya do it cost money.
In this day and age, 鈥測ou are in the cat bird鈥檚 seat鈥? aren鈥榯 you? I admire your ambition..

What about your business cards? Do you think you can "cut corners" and make a good impression with those thin, flat, lifeless, computer-generated cards?

PLEASE DO yourself a HUGE favor: Invest your time to sit down and properly design your business cards. If you aren't sure, please go to a professional printer or graphic arts store and ask for help and guidance. Those folks should amaze you with ideas and concepts. In the long run, good, professionally printed business cards with raised lettering and features, go a long way to show others you care - about yourself, about your business and about your clients.

When you leave, all your contacts and clients have are two things:
1] Good, bad or indifferent - the impression you left.
2] Your business card.

Don't you think it makes good sense to invest your money in a good, quality business card? Have your cards professionally printed.

If you have a particular interest, find a club or group with your interest - or two - or more. If you like to fish, join a group which goes fishing and has meetings. Invest you time and money joining the local Board of Realtors庐, the local Hotel and Motel Association as an Associate Member. How about the Chamber of Commerce? &&&&&&&&&&&&& BE ACTIVE!!!! Get on committees, get to be known as a "can do" type of person. You should have fun [and Yes, some aggravation, too]. You should make some friends and begin building your client base. You should get leads! AND look how much time, money and aggravation you'll save! LOTS!

Find an investment group - or two - or more with professional real estate investors. JOIN it/them AND BE ACTIVE FOR THE SAME REASONS!

LEADS COULD TURN INTO JOBS FOR YOUR COMPANY! Leads could mean income, couldn鈥檛 they?

When you meet nice people AND they are nice to you, write a "Thank You" note - in your very best handwriting on good quality stationery with a matching envelope. Use white, off-white or a very light pastel paper. YOUR stationery is part of YOUR business, isn't it? DON'T BE "CHEAP" about YOUR stationery.

How do I know 鈥淭hank You鈥?Notes work? Over 6 years ago I had surgery. I wrote those little notes - one at a time in my best hand-writing. I wrote to each and every person: from the porter who mopped the floor in our room and emptied the trash, all my nurses鈥?aides, my nurses, the kitchen staff, my doctors, the hospital administrator and the hospital鈥檚 top philanthropist.

Not long ago I saw Dr. F. & Jerry. They IMMEDIATELY recognized me. They asked if they could do anything for me. 鈥淛erry鈥?told me he cherished and coveted my letter. I politely declined. I went about my business and when I got home that evening I cried tears of happiness. My little notes weren鈥檛 written in vain.

Be active in your church, temple or mosque - for the same reasons.

With the exception of your business cards, just about all the suggestions I made are known as "warm canvassing". Don鈥檛 you think warm canvassing could be easier and more productive than cold canvassing?

As the saying goes, "Build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door."

What the saying doesn't tell anyone or even mention is: YOU MUST get out there and let "the world" know about that better mousetrap - YOUR better mousetrap! In your particular case, your better mousetrap is Y-O-U - YOU AND the services YOU offer!

Thank you for asking your question. I enjoyed taking the time to answer your question. You did a great job - not only for your information, but for every other person interested in reading my answer. Thanks to everyone for reading my answer.

I wish you well!
