...a restaurant locally that is very popular in other parts of California. I do not, however, have the capital to start business just out of my own pocket. I need to know the following... 1) How much would it cost to start a business in a college town where business is very steady, and the average cost for a lease it $1.00 per sq foot. Needed space min $1500 sq ft. 2) What are resources for obtaining capital through loans (SBA) without perfect credit. 3) Anyother feedback necessary to be sucessfull in opening a restaurant. Please note, I have over 5 years management experience, and am almost done with my degree in accounting (Bachelors). I also have over 5 years or working in a retail atmosphere, and restaurant experience. Any feedback is much appreciated!! Gosh, would you like an answer that ISN'T an advertisement for a loan officer? ;) It is HARD to get financing for a new business without a ton of collateral and perfect credit... The SBA doesn't lend money, but it will act as a sort-of co-signer for you with your bank... check out sba.gov for more info on their programs... It sounds as if this is a franchise you are looking into, is that correct? If so, they should have financing available, so you'll want to check that out. As for the "how much would it cost to start a business in xxxx" question; There is no way anyone can answer that question without knowing more... I own a small business and the monthly rent is $3,050... My general overhead is $43,000 per month..... Lots of variables to consider, employees, supplies, etc. etc. etc. Congratulations on all your hard work. Check out the free online course and info a www.myownbusiness.org.
