In a bed and breakfast business, what would best way to attract customers? |
>location: near a beach >the building would be at most 2 floors high >this business focuses on the family type of customers a few other questions: >what would be the best food to offer? >what would be the best theme that would make the customers feel at home, relaxed and comfortable? My friend had a B&B in DC/MD area that was very popular. The home was very cosy, 5 rooms, but looked small. She always had fresh flowers all around the house. Good coffee, toast, bagels, fruit, fresh flowers, cheeses, jams, orange juice... Lots of Breakfast foods. The home also had nice art and a feel of satisfaction to those keeping up with being artsy & organic- as that community was- this made many of her neighbors use this as a place to have their in-laws stay while visiting. She also networked with local dancing studios, schools of medicine, and other places that gave her longer term guests and offered discounts to these people. There were also Postcards made for this B&B for people to send home while visiting or her to use for business. The rooms also had different themes. For food- select something that you feel is easy, affordable and attractive. The best theme though would be one to fight your community, and again something that fits you and your home. Source(s): Housesitting for this B&B Since its bed and Breakfast, people dont really expect a 5star treatment or aminities of that nature. In food you could keep it simple and within budget with Cereals & milk, Tea & Coffee, White & brown breads with a toaster on the side along with butter and Jam, and Fruits. You could have 24hr common vending machines for cola and packaged snacks and chocolates etc. Also a common automatic ice maker. As for the decor, dont do a victorian theme, rather keep it simple with straight line furnitures. Since you are near the beach and have a lot of sunlight, you could surely play with colors on your walls or you could have it plain white. I suggest you go to visit someone's bed and breakfast to see what they do and how it's run. advertise thru the travel agencies, in the travel books, on the internet. You said it "would be" almost 2 floors high and that leads me to believe you don't own the building yet. Sounds like you need to prepare your five-year plan first...take a course at the sba.gov Small Business Administration, get thier address from the white pages of your phone book under the federal section. Remember that you'll need a large deposit on that building and will need to probably renovate it. Are you ready for that? |
