Should I even try...? |
I design websites for non-profit businesses locally using html and css. I know that most want php now, but my clients are happy with my work. I need to work more from home and want to open a small website design business online. My "desired client" is one that just wants a simple website for their new business, family site, etc. I am not looking for the big business. I charge $25.00 per page or $500 per project whichever is lower. I am happy with my prices. I know that some designers charge per hour, but I don't. So far I have designed 300+ websites for local businesses. Should I try to make the transition to online clients in spite of all the competition? I only have 6 months to get it up and running and clients coming in. I was like you last time, helping companies to setup their website. Although it will helps to earn some money, this business model has one big disadvantage. You need to work inorder to get paid. That's why I have switched to start up my own online business. With a proper system setup and correct marketing strategies, you could easily earn some passive income. There are a lot of online business model you could consider (e.g. buying and selling domain names, selling phyiscal or digitial products, auctions, creating directories, afffilitate marketing). You could try out since you have already some background and the process could be much faster. To know more about setting up a successful online business, you could get into the below link. It will guide you step by step regardless of your experience and backgound. It will tell you exactly what are these key steps, the reason behind each step, how you should go about it and where to get the necessary resources free or at a very low price.
