Do anyone here own a lawn service?

im plaining on starting one, any advise or tips will be greatly appreciated thanks

The library!!! READ up on lawn care for free!! Don't ever purchase a book! Visit your local library!!! Make flyers, business cards, and word of mouth. Go into Home Depot or Lowes and read up on the lawn and gardening books while you are shopping or browsing!!!! Search on the web for lawn care!!!! You will do great!!!!

http://www.entrepreneur.com/ for start up business info.

http://www.vistaprint.com for free business cards or low cost

http://www.zoomshare.com for free website

http://www.craigslist.org to advertise for free in your local

area & surrounding areas.

You will do great. Also go to local churches and do the grounds for free to get a reference and also maybe a longtime friend of your family lawn these are to get references. Or charge a very low fee!! Like $25 - $40 for every two weeks.

Take care and enjoy your month!!!!

I hope this information helps you. I'm a business owner & this is how I started out and I do very well. You may want to go another route if so, that is okay. Source(s): Join your local CHAMBER OF COMMERCE GREAT advertisement!!!!
Yes, Me and my brothers own a lawn service still learning the Business. But I can tell you to get clients you need to become apart of a business group in your area, this gives you access to experience business professionals.
2) You need to have a company name register with your state ( go to your local city council office to find out more), You have to start out with the right equipment a stick edger, a trimmer and a walk behind lawn mower, and a blower ( we presently use exmark riding lawn mowers as well as walk behinds ).
To get customers you have to walk the neighborhood giving out flyer's and telling.
everybody about your business. If your part of a group you can start there (church, civic group, family and friends, etc). Let me know if this was helpful.
my personal experience.
You have to decide first if your going residential or commercial...residential is great for startup..hint..go into mobile home parks...they have small yards..older people looking for help and a centralized place where you can advertise your services..the mailbox area. If commercial is your route..look for new business parks under construction or near done, look for sign with realtors name on it for sales info..thats your contact..believe me, all they worry about is the price.. act as if this is old school...if they like the price enough they will throw other propertys at you quickly...cus they can cut you lose anytime ..with out a contract.. good luck..
