How do I sell a great item? |
I make a really nice baby item but I am clueless as to how to sell it. If anyone has any advice or has done this I would appreciate your input. Define the niche market in which you would like to sell, and that will determine where you will sell it. You could try and get it placed on the shelves in your local baby store or convenience store. Or, if you prefer a less formal and commercial approach, open an eBay store and start advertising your product there. You could also take it to a community market (the ones that take place downtown, usually on Saturday mornings), or find someone to sell it for you altogether. Finally, you could give it away to a few friends with babies, and have them refer people to you. So for example, if your friend using your product uses it in public and someone asks, "Where did you get that?" you friend could tell the person about you. Basically, there are plenty of channels to get your product out, and what you pick is determined by how many you want to sell, how serious you are about it, and who you want to sell to. Do a test and post it on youtube for a reaction then take the result to a venture capitalist to recieve funding to bring it on the market http://www.inlandrevenue.biz/ I would suggest Ebay or opening an on-line store. There may be people who would be interested in dropshipping your product as well, i.e. they submit the order to you and you give them a cut of the sale. This can be anywhere from 10 - 25% depending on the selling price. |
