There are trademarks , copyrights and patents under which one do i put my artwork & designs for protectioni? |
i have artwork for bedlinnens i would like to know which one would best suit my endevours for protection also if possible to recommend the proper people to submit my designs to i live in nyc If everything is your own original work that has NEVER been done before, then you PATENT> If you are putting the art work out in mags, newspapers, posters etc. you add a copyright 'C' sign. Once you are an established company, then you have a trademark. art is copyrighted Those are protected under Copyrights. A trademark is if you form a company under which you work and you create a symbol thats attached to every piece you make. Thats a trademark. Like GM is a trademark of Genreral Motors corp and they place it on every vehicle they make. A Patent is if you design and build something unique (invent) and you wish to protect that design. For example if you design and build a refridgerator that runs on solar power, you can patent your design. |
