How do you function in a work environment which includes the boss's wife as an office manager? Ew I had this - when I was an IV nurse at a oral surgeon - the wife couldn't work there but she would come in (she was the old office manager) like mad when she didn't like the books. It was awful and he'd be all sappy - (Sorry she's such a pain)... It's tricky- do your best and just think she has a vested interest in the business but if she's out of line go to him - since she's the one you have to report to - keep your eyes and ears open and hopefully it will be a good environment Source(s): RN work at home mom of 3. I take it you're working in a medical or dental practice. This is very common. You can either make friends or make plans to find a new job. As you would with any other manager. Unless she is treating you unfairly its only fair that you work as you would with any other managers. You probably feel uncomfortable around her, and chances are she might feel that she has to act authoritatively but if you are relaxed with her and make her feel more comfortable you might actually get along without any issues. Are you sleeping with the boss? Just be yourself, but professional. WHAT WOULD THE DIFFERENCE BE IF SHE WERE NOT MARRIED TO THE BOSS? SHE WOULD STILL BE THE OFFICE MANAGER...RIGHT? |
