Selling Chili?

I would like to sell my chili at fairs.events and so on.. just chili.. how would start looking into this? I live in Contra Costa County, I would make it at home and heat it up at the event.. please any information would be helpful..

First thing you should do is research. That means, write a business plan. You'll need to know who your market is, how much it cost to make / package / sell your product and how to fund your endeavor. A business plan is the most important tool you'll ever have and I can't say that enough.
After you start working on your business plan, check out this website

Food safety is the biggest hurdle you have and that means that a lot of local and state government folks may want to look at how you prepare, store and sell your chili.
try googel look for webs that offer tis i'm sure you can find a link
I didn't know you could sell Chile!!
what's next Brazil, Argentina? Canada?
Sorry i couldn't resist! locate the fair you plan on selling at on the web.......they should have a section for vendors info.....be warned it won't be cheap. you may have to pay up to 5 grand just for the space..You might want to think smaller and go into the local flea markets, or church events first..
good luck
had the idea long ago w/ fries
Going into business is easy. All you have to do is to find a customer, and accept his money for the goods and/or services that you offer.

If you are manufacturing food - yeah, cooking chili counts - you have to comply with food safety laws. You probably will have to build, buy, or rent a commercial kitchen. There are quite a few requirements. In Pennsylvania, one of the requirements is that you need two restrooms for the kitchen, and the kitchen and restrooms have to be separate from the rest of the house. They also require special training for someone who manages a food service business.

Go down to your local health department and ask what requirements you need to meet. You probably will end up deciding to make a deal with a mom-and-pop restaurant, that allows you to come in and cook your chili before they get busy with breakfast in their kitchen.

For a name, "Chili today!" On your stand, stick up a big sign that says: "Weather forecast: Chili today!"

Good luck. If I were going to be a one-food vendor, I'd cook ribs in a vacant lot on a busy intersection every Friday, sending people home with a slab wrapped in aluminum foil, a box of cole slaw, and a couple of rolls, all in a paper bag, for $20.
