Can you file bankurpt on back state taxs? |
Can you file bankurpt on back state taxs? Your Uncle Eric is happy to come to your emotional rescue on this vital question. Of course, you can discharge state tax liens at bankruptcy proceedings. In fact, apparently not known to our other Answer comrades, until the new Bush Bankruptcy bill of October 2005, Federal tax obligations were also dischargeable at bankruptcy. Bush did more to hurt the little person in that bill than any other president in history, but we don麓t want to wake anyone up with that do we? Specific rules apply for state taxes. Only those years that have gone all the way through, in most cases to liens, will apply and rules that count certain days that are tricky are in play. Therefore, look in your local phone book for an attorney to help you. The fee is very small, even here in California, usually under $1,000, to get a fresh start in your life. Look at this....if I am wrong, and I have personally worked with people at the Tax and Law Center in San Diego to help many other people, the attorney with tell you over the phone that her office will or will not be able to help you. Just ask them in your initial call! Don麓t forget to email you Uncle Eric if I can be of any help! Good Luck. Taxes are never exempt from anything. They may take your home, so sell it now while the market is hot. Sorry. no you cant . the same with school loans....federal taxes and some other things but they will usually set up a small payment plan with you.If they wont you can go to legal aid and get a lawyer where they will have to settle for pennies on the dollar.they will try to intimidate you though so be strong. |
