Why do tax refunds take so long to process and what happens if a company that paid you has not filed taxes yet
The company who issued you the 1099 has to issue government versions of that 1099 to the IRS by February 28th. The best thing for you to do is what you did. If they gave you that 1099, you can bet they sent it in to the IRS as well, which means if you don't claim that on your income tax return, the IRS will catch it and you'll be up {you-know-what} creek. Who knows why it's taking so long for your return to be processed. Depending on when you filed it, they could just be really backed up. I filed mine really early and it still took several weeks. Hope that helps! it's up to you to file the taxes, not your company. The IRS pules so many returns for NO reason every year. Corp taxes are do on March 15th. So nothing happens to your return. you are not an employee of the co. they are just taking the amount that they pd you off of their income when they give you a 1099 so There should not be any hold up because of the co. your return might have been one that they decided to look at. Go to IRS.GOV click wheres my refund you will need your social and filling stat and what your refund is to do this and they should tell you what is going on with your return. Or call 1 800 829 4477
