In India, I did not file my tax returns by the deadline last year. Can I file it now? Is there any penalty? |
I didnt file tax returns for my earnings during 2004-2005 by the deadline (Oct 30,2005, i guess). I had come to US by that time. Can I file my returns now? Is there any penalty? Does my stay outside India provide any immunity? Thanks a million! No you can always pay it during this financial year along with this years taxes. You will have to pay a penalty which is not really that high. Catch hold of a Chartered Accountant (CA) and he will do the job for you. You may not even be required to be there to file your taxes as that can be taken care of by him. Your signed papers can be sent across to him and he would do it for you for a fee. I know a guy who has paid his 2002-2003 2003-2004 taxes this year. Source(s): My personal experience they will chop off your feet you probably can't file them know that 's what happened to my parents when they moved here but nobod even cared that they didn't do that. I wouldn't worry about it on a weekend. Relax. That's what the last minute is for. |
