If someone poses for a nude centerfold, do they get all the money or are taxes taken out already? |
I have often wonder how posing for a nude centerfold is treated? Is it a job that say lasted a week and the paycheck is say $50,000 and taxes are taken out just like if I worked a week for $500? So, would she pose for $50,000 and be issued a check for say $38,519.83??? Or is she given $50,000 and at end of year or tax time pay the taxes? She is probably contracted out. Which means she would be self employed and no taxes would come out of the check. If that is the case she will pay all the taxes(fed, social security, and medicare) quarterly or at the end of the yr. Ineresting question. If she poses for a well known magazine, her check should be net, not gross. I hope you are not thinking about it. I feel that it denatures women of all walks of life. It is just like a job all the money you take in during the tax year has to be accounted for. Uncle Sam would not want to let your tax money go to waste. If you look at the constitution we should not be paying taxes any way! We did not pay taxes until later on in history! Most models are considered to be freelance employees. So, they would likely get 100% of gross and have to deal with the taxes themselves. Great question! According to the industry, these models are considered independent contractors since they are hired for a particular project, paid a contracted fee, and work for other magazines. Therefore, these models will receive the entire contracted fee (i.e. $50K), but would need to pay estimated income taxes and, ultimately, self employment taxes. Therefore, taxes would be considered at one point or another. |
