Why should marriage change your tax rates?

Why should marriage change your tax rates?

Married couples ought to receive a "tax break", i.e. reduction, for the simple reason that married couples are more likley to have children and children are the lifeblood of every nation.

In countries like Germany and Japan, where it is economically challenging to have children, the birth rates are down and the nation's lifeblood is thinning. A tax incentive is a viable solution, at least in my humble opinion.
It shouldn't raise them. If anything, you should gat a tax break for being married.
Because it promotes stability (in theory).
Becuase you have more people dependent on your income. If you both work then it's a incentive to keep family values such as marrying a tradition. So many people go through life with out making a family and that's what life is all about. Just like you get even more tax breaks when you have kids and for every kid.
since marriage increases my allowances, so be it, marriage should therefore change the tax rates
i dont think you should . I believe a flat 10 per cent with no deduct for anything would be fair to all
Marrige Changes the tax rated because historically when you got married you went from a two income family to a one income family. Therefore the tax law gave you a higher standard deduction for a married couple than a single individual. The issue arises now that most families are two income families, so that when you have two parties earning income 2 single standard deductions are higher than the married. This causes the so called marriege penalty, meaning you pay more taxes when married with 2 good wage earners and will pay less when you have 1 good wage earner and one not so good.
