What happens if i do not do my taxes by April 15th?

It depends on if you are owed a refund or not. If they owe you, they would prefer that you never file, so that they don't have to pay you. If you wait 3 years, the money is theirs. If you owe and they catch you not filing (which they probably will) they will come after you, take the money that you should have paid in, plus penalties, plus interest (at 5% a month).
Nothing because this year you had until the 17th. :) But if you file late then they impose a penalty plus an interst rate. However, if you file late and they owe you a refund, you still pay the penalty and they DON'T pay YOU any interest. Funny how that works.
I work for an accountant: Penalties from the IRS are based on a perecentage of what you owe. If you owe nothing or have a refund, nothing happens. However, they can still fine you for not filing your taxes, especially if you haven't filed in years. Plus, the one guy was right, after 3 years you can no longer receive refunds or amend returns. Put in an extension for this year or file quickly online. If all you have to do is a W-2 or so, then all you have to file is a 1040EZ. Go to the IRS website, you can find more information on how to file online.
