I was wondering what kind of job does a computer sciecne do ? what is compuer science? Good slary? per hour? Computer science jobs typicall fall into these categories, starting form basic entry level to more elaborate management positions. QA: Quality Assurance , testing, these folks test software for bugs and make detailed reports.. very basic comp sci skills needed , typical start at $20K PC TECHS: PC Support Technicians (Think GeekSquad), basically they work on fixing and upgrading computer hardware for either residential or buisness customers. Must be hands on and like working with hardware . typically start at $25K~$35K PROGRAMMERS: This is a very common entry level position for CompSci, using a common technology platform like Windows (VB.NET, ASP.NET, C#) or Unix (Java) or Open source (PHP, PERL, Ruby) , , programmers write the code for various software systems.. typically start at $25K~$40K DBA: Database administratrors, work managing databases, typically requires extensive database exepreince $35K~$65K NETWORK Administrator : Network Administrators manage networking and physical networing infrastructure. Need strong knowledge and experience in routers, operating systems. $45K~$85K CTO : Chief Technology Officer , the head honcho for IT in a company.. when you get here, you'll know it.. Good Luck i would say that computer science majors usually get jobs as computer programmers. bascially they help write and develop a particular program for the company they are working for. the salary ranges depending on location and experience level. i would think that minimum would be 40k a year no experience walking in the door. with experience you can go 60k to six figures. |
