Adding programming skills to a bachelor's degree: University or College? |
I have a BSc degree in engineering (mechanical) but would like to acquire further skills toward working as a programmer in the IT industry. I've been accepted into a Computer Science program at a university and they will let me start in 3rd year. My other option is to go to a technical school, which also seems appealing and is much cheaper. Which option would yield more opportunities of employment? Would the CS degree allow me to go much further than the college program, given that I have a previous BSc degree already? Thanks. Frankly, I don't think that most companies would care, given that you have a degree. As long as you know how to do the stuff, I would think they'd be happy As per now,to be working in CS field no need of excellent skills are required.I mean if u know the funda's then they will cultivate you and will make you work on that and you will be expertise in that.Bcos u have a Mechanical Degree with good Programming skills. And as per as Mechanical is concern, it needs lot of practical experiences. For ex, if u spend 3 yrs in Cs you will be 75% techy but not in Mechanical.Because there needs Innovation. AS u know still, we can see lot of innnovation in Mechanical Engineering(deisel cars,Petrols cars,CRDi,Crde,....) As per as Emplyment is concern,Both will get u nice opportunities. No need to woory about it.. Think Well.... All the very best for ur future.!!!! |
